CAPE TOWN RING ROAD (RSA, 1998, Complete)

Financial advisor to a private consortium on the submission of an unsolicited bid in terms of governments policy for a R400 million ($80 million) road project to complete a ring road around the greater Cape Town metropolis on a self-funding basis. In addition to normal advisory work, the role included securing both debt finance and non-sponsor equity for the project.

HUGUENOT TUNNEL (RSA, 1998, Complete)

Financial advisor to a private sector operator / contractor for an unsolicited bid for a tunnel concession with a R500 million ($110 million) financing requirement. The project comprised the opening of a second bore of a tunnel connecting Cape Town to the interior, including refinancing of existing government debt on the first tunnel.

PLATINUM TOLL ROAD (RSA, 1997, Complete)

Financial advisor to the South African National Roads Agency on the concessioning of a R2 billion ($420 million) toll road between Pretoria and the Botswana border and the N1 north of Pretoria. The role in this project, the third toll road concession to be undertaken by the South African government, included advising on all financial aspects of the project from feasibility through pre-qualification to final tender and evaluation.

Financial advisor to a private consortium lead by Kharafi Construction and Intertoll on the submission of a bid for the R2,5 billion ($525 million) toll road concession comprising more than 400 kilometres of the N3 between Johannesburg and Durban. The project included new construction at commencement of the concession, the take-out of existing government debt and provision for major expansions midway during the concession. The role comprised all modelling, advisory and finance raising input for the consortium bid.
